Who we are

A US company buying for Brazilian industry.

We negotiate directly with mills and manufacturers, run each operation through to the port of destination and finance our clients' purchases, subject to credit approval. One contract, one responsible party, from the mill to the Brazilian port.

Established in the United States

Steel Point Trading is based in Orlando, Florida. Purchase contracts with suppliers are signed by the US company and settled in US dollars.

Focused on Brazil

Our clients are industrial plants and steel distributors in Brazil. We handle third-party certification, ocean freight and insurance up to the Brazilian port; the buyer clears customs as importer of record with the documents we provide.

Buyer with its own credit

Credit for the Brazilian buyer is analysed together with our quotation, before the order is placed, and depends on prior credit approval. Suppliers deal with one counterpart: Steel Point Trading.

What we buy

Steel first, then everything a plant consumes.

Flat and long products, stainless steel and consumables, classified under HS chapters 72, 73 and 82. Volumes and specifications vary by order; each request states the standard, dimensions, finish and quantity.

  • HS 7208–7210

    Coils and sheets

Hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils and sheets, galvanized and galvalume, cut to the thickness and width specified in each order.

  • HS 7304–7306

    Tubes, profiles and bars

Seamless and welded tubes, structural sections, angles and bars for industry and distribution.

  • HS 7213–7217

    Wire rod, wire and bars

Wire rod for drawing, annealed and galvanized wire, round and flat bars to specification.

  • HS 7219–7222

    Stainless steel

Sheets, coils, bars and tubes in 304, 316 and 430 grades; 2B, BA and polished finishes, inspected and certified by an independent third party.

  • HS 8202–8207

    Tools, abrasives and welding consumables

Cutting and grinding discs, drill bits, cutting tools and welding consumables.

  • On demand

    Other industrial inputs

Machinery, parts, PPE and other inputs that Brazilian plants buy in volume. If there is a manufacturer, we can qualify it and place the order.

How we qualify suppliers

What we ask of every mill and manufacturer.

Quality is verified before, during and after production. Suppliers that already work this way find our requirements familiar.

  1. 01

    Supplier qualification

Before the first order we review company documents, production capability, the quality system and the export track record of the mill or manufacturer.

  2. 02

    Third-party pre-shipment inspection

An independent international certification company checks quantity, dimensions, surface, marking and packing before loading, following the plan agreed in the contract, and issues the inspection report.

  3. 03

    Certificate of conformity

The same independent certification company issues the technical report and the certificate of conformity to the standard stated in the order (ASTM, SAE, EN, JIS or ABNT NBR). Both documents travel with the cargo until customs clearance in Brazil.

  4. 04

Certificate of origin and export documents

Certificate of origin, commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading consistent with each other and with the contract, so that customs clearance in Brazil runs without correction requests.

Commercial terms

How we contract.

Terms are set order by order and written into the contract. These are the constants.

Destination ports

Where the cargo lands in Brazil.
